Introduction

As soon as I got married I realized my wife became the top priority.

I'm not writing this next statement to get brownie points from my wife even though she will probably never read this blog post.

After the marriage, I am my wife's husband first before I am my parent's son.

My Parents Importance

By making that statement it does not mean I love or respect my parent less or their value in my life is less because I am married. I owe everything I am today, because of my parent's sacrifice and unconditional love.

I truly mean this statement as well. Nothing in this world is free, but a parent's love and education is the only thing in life you get for free. It is up to you to take that information as a sponge and apply it to your life in some form.

Loyalty

One of the values my parents have always instilled in me and my brother is being a good person. Be good to your close and loved ones, but also the people you interact with.

Another value they taught us with their actions was always being loyal to your loved one, but also to people who help you in your life whether it is at a workplace, with your neighbor, with your friends, or even with a total stranger who does an unselfish deed and helps you in some way.

What that means is my loyalty will be always towards my wife above everyone else in this universe.

US Sitcom "Suits"

One of the reasons why I would say Suits is my favorite TV Show of all time is possibly because I've watched all 9 seasons countless times more than 15. I guess the bottom line it's a really good show.

The reason why I probably like it deep down is the strong bond between the characters Harvey Specter and Mike Ross is due to the loyalty both have for one another. It shows clearly because Mike ends up going to jail for practicing law without ever attending law school, but he never turns on Harvey.

even though he has the chance to turn on Harvey he just deep down would never do it and never forgive himself, because of the loyalty he has to Harvey for giving him a job as an associate.

Probably the reason why my favorite line from the show is:

I don’t care. Anyone comes at you with any threat at all, you come to me. I don’t give a s*** if it’s the Queen of England. You come to me. You tell me. You tell me everything. That’s what goddamn loyalty is.

Sacrificing on both sides

One thing that I do believe needs changing is the mentality in Bengali families that the girls and boys in the family should be equally helping out with household chores. In my family, there is that impression the guys work and they don't have any household chore responsibilities which are mandatory.

I was the same I had my mum to cook for me, wash my clothes, etc before I got married. Honestly, I could say it was just laziness. I don't mean laziness in terms of me not doing these household chores I mean in terms of the mentality of thinking and behaving like an independent person.

Conclusion

I strongly believe that every guy is punching above his weight. In simple words:

The individual has a lot more intelligence, a nicer personality, or is just more attractive than you. You've found a good one; now stay on your toes and don't mess it up, is a common praise.

Even though my wife few times has said she is lucky to have me as her husband I feel the most lucky to have her not just as my best friend but as a life partner I can share not just the joyous occasions but also sad and difficult times.
